Notice that the bar travels forward off the ground, instead of straight up.
Hey everyone, I've spoken in the Managing Injuries forum about a back injury I sustained in the Spring. In summary, I hurt my back during a botched deadlift and have spent the last 2 months rehabbing it after a long hiatus. I met up with a local coach last week who uses the SS principles and has helped me with the Squat and the DL. I've been practicing the 5-step setup and have been dedicating much time in order to perfect it. However the movement feels awkward and thus my low back feels off during the sets and reps. This has made me second guess my technique on every step and it's interrupting with my momentum. The 4th step, squeeze your chest in order to achieve and maintain lumbar extension is difficult and I've been watching Coach Nick Delgadillo's deadlift videos for help. I can't tell if the low back sensation during the reps is a result of me not bracing hard enough, or merely a result of my past injury. Any advice is greatly appreciated!

Because I'm pushing the bar with my shins right? My hip level isn't changing as I set my back into extension, so I just think I need to focus on keeping the bar close to me without moving it.
