Officially motivated as hell. Great stuff!
Very inspiring. Thanks for sharing!
Fantastic work Mark! I look up to you! What program are you currently running, TM, HLM ?
I started lifting about 3.5 years ago. I spent 3-6 months doing really stupid stuff, then another year not being as stupid, but not training anywhere near optimally.
I am currently running a tweaked version of 531. No deload week. I just repeat week 1 of the cycle in week 4. I deadlift once a week with AMRAP on my top sets, but never settle for less than 5 on my "heavy 531 week." I squat twice a week with one day being a medium day of ramping 5 sets of 5 (225x5, 270 x5, 310x3x5) and one day programmed via 531. For squats and press, I don't run AMRAP, but do sets across for whatever my top weight is for the day. So it ends up looking like: 5x5, 5x3, and then 5, 3, and either 3 sets of doubles or singles or a combination thereof...
Thanks all. My intent in writing this was to show people that you don't have to be an "athlete" or genetically gifted (I am not) to hit heavy sets. It is doable, just takes discipline, hard work, and time.
