What's wrong with long socks? I've found them on sale for a couple of bucks. I wear them for all lifts every time and they work fine.

I may start wearing knee-high dark compression socks...that way I'll feel like a naughty British Civil Servant when I lift...

I use the same thing. Copper and Physix Gear calf compression socks can do what I want them to do and provide support for my calf. My calf has been suffering from strain for a long time. After 56 miles of riding, compression socks will be difficult to put on. Fortunately, with the help of talcum powder, they are easy to wear. I ran 13.1 miles and they performed very well and the calf felt relaxed.
