Of course. We (young US athletes) all trained this way.
"Rip, why should I program cleans for anyone? What are the adaptations I'm looking induce?"
The things that are trainable in ballistic movements (total recruitment in limited time, inter-muscular coordination of recruitment, twitch rates, doublet twitches, Marenghi what else? )...are very movement specific adaptations.
Read the fucking book, Hanley. No wonder you lost your SSC. Probably another troll like Dwayne Wint.
Power Cleans are a waste of time.
This makes me happy.
While we're talking about trolls, did you know this ericsquats guy currently has 54 posts since joining 4 months ago, 16 of which are the OP to a form check. This dude has literally posted the equivalent of 1 form check per week of joining the forum, and is lecturing a distinguished coach about things which little Eric has no first hand experience with.
WTF.
Yes rate limited hip and knee extension.
I don't know absolutely that cleans (or snatches) are the best way, but the argument- that it is loadable and you explode harder when you must rack, makes sense to me. The highest power output in sport is in the snatch.
I would like to have a look at Bondarshuk.
