My opinion is that half-squats are never a legitimate exercise for any purpose under any circumstances.
Hello Mr. Rippetoe, I would like to know your opinion on incorporating the use of half squats in micro cycles during a program specifically designed for improving athletic performance in events such as jumping and sprinting. Thank you for you time sir.
My opinion is that half-squats are never a legitimate exercise for any purpose under any circumstances.
Boy, that was a bald faced Troll.
But, of course, honeybadger doesn't give a shit.
I see that now. Being a honeybadger.
According to Jeremy Clarkson from Top Gear, Honey Badgers eat testicles.
And Jeremy would know, right?
Probably. He drives really fast cars, really fast, and they were in Africa for one of the Top Gear specials.
Can't see how he wouldn't know.
Lol at being so brainwashed, a question about a performance method used by tons of elite athlete athletes and masters of sport has to be "trolling". I asked Mr. Rippetoe about his opinion and I got it, but saying something used by Siff, Verkhoshansky, and Zatsiorsky is "trolling" is retarded.
Mr. Rippetoe, do you not believe in SPP methods, and stick to primarily gpp and the specific sport for performance gains? thanks again for your time sir.
I do not think partial squats are SPP. I think they are an ineffective way to train anything, because their mechanics are sufficiently different from normal human movement patterns that they are actually counterproductive.
So you see more similar angles to a vertical jump in a full squat than you do a half squat? Reversal points where the amortization phase takes place are more similar in a full squat? Forgive me if Im misenterpreting, but I understand the need for a full rom squat in addressing the total musculature of the chain, but I would like to understand why would it not be more beneficial to train at similar joint angles, more similar speeds, etc., to your actual sporting endeavor. Thanks again.
