With the onset of Mehdi being extremely gay with his forum, i'll start a new log here

Started with stronglifts when I knew nothing (and tried P90x), then finally got Starting Strength which was extremely helpful. Also tried out 20 rep squats for about a month with 1/2 GOMAD back in December/January of 09-10 (went from 150-175). Then I learned that i was going to school 30 minutes away from CalStrength, so I signed up for some coaching sessions and I am now hooked.

Coached by Max Aita, compete in the 77kg class been to 5 meets so far. Hoping to qualify for nationals next year either as a 77 or as a 69.

Numbers in training and competitions will be recorded in kg because that's the kind of plates I use

    Past stats on SS
    LBBS 290lbx5
    Deadlift 330lbx5
    Bench Press 190lbx5
    OHP 133lbx5

    Current Stats
    Snatch 77kg, 75kg in competition
Clean and Jerk 100kg, same in competition
    Power Snatch 72.5kg
    Power Clean 91kg
    High Bar Squat 160kg/352lbs
    Front Squat 137kg/302lbs

As it stands, I am a pretty bad snatcher, a lot of which is due to flexibility which I lack. Daily I do stretches I got from Kelly Starret either from mobilitywod or from him personally (PT sessions) and they've made a pretty big impact. Mostly lacking in internal hip rotation (and general hip mobility) and ankle mobility.

These are my lifts at my latest competition this past Sunday. No i dont know what happened on that last clean, but it was a 5kg PR attempt.

Not sure if I am really good enough for this section of logs, but given that I have competed, and continue to do so, I guess I am a competitive lifter.

Whats with the three different names in the video? Matt Chou, Philip Wang then Jay Itagaki? I mean wtf? I see Max Aita wasn't really happy with your third C&J attempt, lol.

    Nice lifting by the way!

The people running the computer aspect were very slow, and it crashed multiple times.

Trust me, I was not happy with that attempt either. Would've been a 5kg PR and i felt ready for it.

    Training today

Snatch off low blocks (below knee)
    40kgx2,3,3
    50kgx2
    60kgx1
    65kgx0,1
    70kgx1
    75kgx00000
    60kgx5x3
smoked 70, kept messin up 75 though. I have a hard time bringing the bar back into me, but when i do it right i nail it (like the 70kg), pulled one 75 good but then didnt drop under it deep enough

    C&J off blocks
    50kgx2
    60kgx2
    70kgx1
    80kgx1
    85kgx1
I really hate cleaning off anything besides the floor, just feels odd to me.

    Squat
    70kgx3
    100kgx2
    120kgx1
    140kgx1
    150kgx1
    110kgx4x3
The last rep of set 2 and the last two triples were pause squats, 3 second pause at the bottom. Really makes it harder and more emphasis on the legs for me.

Also today I put up flyers around my campus for a Barbell club

    60kgx1

Gettin lazy about posting on two forums, here's the last two days
    Snatch
    40kgx2,2
    50kgx2,1
    60kgx1
    70kgx1
    80kgx00
    65kgx3, 3, 0, 2, 3, 3
The set of zero and 2 was my attempts at snatching with straps, which I really have no clue how to do, just feels so damn awkward

    C&J
    50x1
    60x1
    70x1
    80x1
    90x1
    97x0 no jerk
    90x0 no jerk
Shoulder acting up on jerks, clean were pretty smooth though, changed my setup a bit so that i pull the slack out of the bar and tighten my back before I bend my legs down, kinda sumo dl style.

    Session 2

    Squat
    20x3
    60x3
    100x2
    120x1
    140x1
    150x1
    162.5x0
    100x5x3 Pause squat
Blitzed 150 like a boss, 162.5 didnt happen though. Couldnt go 161 cause my school gym only goes as low as 1.25. Going to be doing pause squats MWF for 5x3 until i cant go up in weight (5kg at a time)

    Shoulder horn 4x25
    Low row (cable) 4x25
Band Pull aparts x100 (multiple sets)
Rev Hyper 100kgx a bunch, . wasnt counting, did them between band sets.

    Training today

    Snatch
    40x3
    50x2
    60x1
    70x00,1
Worked on catching with a narrower stance, harder at higher weights, could just be mental though

    C&J
    50x2
    60x1
    70x1
    80x3x1
I found the secret to a good jerk, anger! One of the singles at 80 went about as high as a 40kg jerk, hardly any split

    Front squat
    60x2
    90x2
    110x1
    130x1
    140x0
140 buried me, too slow and too weak for it today

    Chest supported DB row 25lbsx5x20
    Feels shitty

    10/12

    Snatch
    40x3
    50x3
    60x1
    65x1
    70x2 PR double, 1, 0
    60x1, 1
    65x1
    70x1
    71x0, 0
Trying to change a lot of things about my Snatch, a lot of which ended in failure, hopefully I can put it all together from the start next time

    C&J
    50x3
    60x1
    70x1
    80x1
    90x1
    95x1
Jerks feeling better, cleans were pretty good today as well

    Session two

    Squat
    20x5
    60x3
    100x2
    120x1
    140x1
    155x1
    105x5x3 3 second Pause
155 was tough, but pretty strong. In hindsight, i should've gone for a PR at 162.5 or something, but I rather dislike squatting at my school gym, plus I had to face a mirror for this.

    Shoulder horn 5x20
    Reverse Hypers 120kgx70-80 (multiple sets)
    Band Pull apartsx100 (multiple sets)

Tomorrow going off the high blocks for snatches.

    70kgx1
    80kgx1
