Default Magnum's log to IPF Junior Worlds

    Hey guys,

Just starting logging here, but getting pretty damn serious with my training so wanted to share and help as much as I can!
You guys won't know my story, I found Power Lifting (and starting strength)as a 56kg weakling at the end of my last year of High School.
I tried kickboxing, but hated hitting people I enjoyed spending time with (haha) and through trying to bulk up for KB, I found weights.
I was bullied all through High School (hence the desire for fight sports) but as I got stronger, I fell in love more and more. The gym became my escape from everything, and continues to be this way to this day.
I am now competing in the 93kg class, and weigh anywhere between 88-94kg.

I've done some decent lifts in comp since starting, but still a long way to go!
Here is a run down of my PB's in comp:
    Raw:
    Squat: 215kg
    Bench: 142.5kg
    Deadlift: 242.5kg
    Total: 600kg

    Equipped:
    Squat: 275kg
    Bench: 162.5kg
    Deadlift: 240kg
    Total: 672.5kg

Picked up a few New Zealand Records, a Commonwealth + Oceania Championship and 2 National Junior titles so far on my journey.
This year I am off to Junior Worlds in Hungary during early September with a strong NZ Contingent. From now, till then I will log my training here and on youtube.
I'm still new to the youtube thing, but have purchased some new stuff to hopefully make the videos a little more worth watching. For now, here is a compilation of my squat progression during 2012,
over the next couple of weeks I will be throwing up content regularly, so please subscribe. If you have any questions about my training and plans, please let me know!

    Thanks,
    Sam

Hahah trust me, I wish I started earlier too!

Thanks though man, still a long way to go!

    Friday:
    Tonight went pretty well
    Squats:
    bar x20
    60x10
    100x5
    140x5
    160x3
    add belt
    180x2
    180x3
    add wraps
    180 7 sets of 4
    remove belt and wraps
    140x5 paused
    100x8 paused

    Bench:
    bar x20
    60x10
    80x10
    100x5
    120 3x5
    110 3x5
    100x12

    Hammer Grip LPD
    Rotator Cuff Work

Felt really good on squats tonight. All reps easy. Felt like I needed to do a few more sets and reps to get my motor pattern feeling a little more natural again. Squatting two days a week has definitely taken away from my movement pattern in squats, so I'm going to try and fix that. Felt a lot better today as I've spent the past two days mobbing with my massage stick and a cricket ball, as my massage therapist cancelled on me yesterday morning. Body weight was sitting at 90.00kg this morning.

Glad to see a fellow IPF fanboy here.

If all goes to plan, my next comp would be in Melbourne for Raw Asians + Oceanias. Might see yo there.

Was thinking about hitting that comp, but I won't be able to make NZ Raw nats due to worlds, so I can't qualify.

Haven't had much time to log in the last week as I've been crazy with work and Uni.

Managed to scrape together a half decent video from last friday. Should get some Equipped footage on sunday which will be interesting to have a look at! Watching these videos myself ends up being really good cause I've never had this visual feedback before, and I'm really liking it.

    Here's fridays video:

    Monday:
Thought I would pull up pretty sore today, but ended up feeling alright.
    Deadlifts:
    Gorilla Stance first:
    60x8x2
    100x8x2
    140x5
    180x3
Knees felt much better, no soreness. Will start pushing these a lot more now we're closing in on comp.
    Change to Conv:
    100x8
    140x5
    160x5x2
    Close Grip Bench:
    60x8
    80x8
    100x5
    120x5
    130x5
    120x5
Benched with BG, instant +20kg on bench. PB before this was 110x3 haha, safe to say I smashed that.
    SSB Squats:
    Barx12
    60x8
    100x5x2
    110x5

    Hammer Grip Lat Pull Down

And done. Felt pretty amazing considering the heavy equipped session yesterday! The work I've done previously has obviously has it's desired effect recovery wise. Happy man.
