Complete tear does not sound like good news, but I am sure you will do everything you can to come back strongly from this. Hope the next doctor visit brings some clarity.

unfortunately you are correct. Tuesday I will be seeing dr. I assume he will refer me to surgeon he knows. In addition, I will be going to columbia preb. to see a shoulder specialist in their sports medicine area. I'm lucky to live so close to NYC where there are very good university hospitals that attract the best people.
Nothing against New Jersey doctors, but I've had several experiences over the years and have sworn if someone is going to cut me open I pay the bridge toll.

    275 x 5 @ 6
    285 x 5 @ 7
    295 x 5 @ 8

    280 x 5 @ 8.5
    280 x 5 @ 9

    5 minute rest between sets

    Note:
was particularly tough to get motivated knowing surgery is looming, but once I suited up I got focused. I'm beginning to wonder why I even bother training at this point. no matter what I do now, once I have the surgery, it will be a long walk to get back to these strength levels.

Shoulder pain is moderate today, not from lifting, I was laying down and went to get up and tried to push off using my left arm....ouch.

    sorry for bitching.

Okay, so surgery is never fun. But, you have a shitload of stuff to fix. Short-term this sucks but I think you are going to be very happy with taking the action in 18 months. You will be setting new PR's then.

Sorry to hear about the tear, Lou.

That toll was pretty pricey last time I paid it, but definitely worth getting the best treatment that you can.

I'm very sorry to hear about your shoulder, lou. But as others have said: you'll be happy you got it fixed and you'll be back to normal strength levels sooner than you think!

Re: not knowing if it's worth training right now since it will be "wasted" anyway - it won't. We don't train to be stronger today, but to lead a stronger and happier life in general. Even if your sessions now might not give you any substantial strength to show for after the surgery and post-op recovery, they will give you some joy and well-being when doing them as well as preparing your body for fast and healthy recovery.

    Good luck!

That's good to hear! If I'm half as badass as you are when I'm your age I will be one happy guy.

Keep up the good work and keep us posted!
