Well, this ends a 6 month block of light, high rep, high set training. i feel that such interludes are needed to prevent injuries caused by unbroken pushes for PR's.
Now, i will be going low rep, low set, heavy training for 6 months. But as usual will not be getting the luxury of 10 minutes between sets, as my sport only gives a maximum of one to two minutes between attempts.
I'm going to start following this. In 6 years I'll be 77. I never could do clean and jerk or power snatch and am more than amazed that this young hearted fellow from down under can do them. I am most inspired by 77 now and his record keeps me very humble.
Indeed. There are too many men in the world his age that are doing what he is doing. Our oldest male client, however, is 91 and with some adaptations he can do the basic four lifts. He's at 180 for the deads.
Well, thank you once again, Oldster. Your frequent appreciations of my efforts delight me much more than is proper. If you were my age, my strength would be chopped liver compared to you!
Oldster
I have never been better than average strong. But you - ARE A MONSTER!
Greetings Carson. Delighted you have read my stuff. I suppose that's only fair, because i have read so many of your posts, and viewed your lifting vids. At the moment i am working thru your 200 page Hercules thread. I have read over 50 pages, & will read them all in time.I never could do clean and jerk or power snatch.
Carson
When i first moved to the city from the country, after retiring, the foremost Master in the State (many years, many titles, many records) told me, "There is no Master who goes as low as you in the lifts." If you want to see pics of some of my lifts, and the odd vid, you can find them on my facebook.....

Can't miss me, my avatar is me lifting.
Do not concern yourself about slow progress learning the quick lifts. I have been at it for 13 years, & it took me 2 years before i dared to approach the Olympic Weightlifting Association.
AND, i had the background of 2 years weight training as a teen, before being shoofed off to the country for 38 years. There i did running, competitive swimming, & martial arts, so i had a long start on you.

Hi John. Happy belated birthday. Your log has been inspiring me for years, but I don’t think I ever realized you only took up this sport at 63! I guess I just figured you’d been doing it a while. Makes it even more impressive in my eyes.
