And the comeback continues.

If I can get close to squatting 390 by the end of April and deadlift anything over 400 by the same time, I will go to Memphis and try to win The USAPL's Masters World Cup. Since my right shoulder is toast my bench is only around 200. So I need the big squat and deadlift in case someone shows up benching around 300. I will only be around 85% but there are only a couple of guys in my age and weight class that can squat with me. Most of the Championships over the last 10 years the winning squats were 310 to 330.
It would be nice to win when not at my best.

I thought since December I was registered for the National Championship in October. Found out for some reason I wasn't but am now. Next year I hope to win 3 different National titles and the world title along with several records. I am not going for 2nd place. I need to keep the comeback going well. I was ready for all of this last year but had the back injury just 3 weeks shy of the 1st meet. I have changed from strictly raw to raw with knee wraps as my knees are toast. Not from lifting but the work I did for 41 years, old age, and getting my foot caught in the grass in my yard. 17 years of football didn't help either.

My knee is getting better. I am still on pace to be where I want to be by October. I dropped down in weight and am back to training. I felt likeI could have used 315-320, but I am still ahead of my comeback goal. Maybe the knee will heal a little faster with the lighter weights. I just love doing squats. Start bench back on Saturday. I am going to wait until I am squatting sets with 350 before doing deadlifts. Squats drive my deadlift.

My 15 year old girl trainee, a SO in high school, just finished 3rd at the Texas High School Girl's Powerlifting Championship. She Squatted-300, Benched-140, and Deadlifted a new PR-335. The 2 who beat her are seniors and won by 20 pounds and 10 pounds more. Now her dad wants me to train him, a 51 YO couch potato. I feel pretty good about it.

Terrible workout. I did my warmup and on my first working set my bad knee went out. I had to wait about 20 minutes to try again.

What a scary and crappy day. I was doing 3 reps with 280 and after the 2nd rep, my heart stopped beating. I started to pass out but somehow got the bar back in the rack. Grabbed one of the safety bars and sat down in my chair. Woke up several minutes later on the floor next to the broken chair. My heart then started racing like a top fuel dragster. I have an appointment for the cardiologist in about 10 days. Urgent Care did an EKG and says it was all from holding my breath to brace. Cardiologist told me not to lift until after my appointment. He also told me to do more reps with a much lighter weight and only do singles with heavy weights.

The heart is fine and I am still on the comeback. Everything moved fast and well today.
I had a way better mind set too.
