I am coaching them.

That is some serious weight for an old guy with bad knees. But it isn't where I stop.
Forgot about deadlifts.

My legs were dead as I did 2 sets and 15 pounds more than planned. I will not go heavy on deadlifts until maybe June or July. I don't want to set myself back with my lower back.

This is the 2nd year in a row I have been invited to the Arnold Classic amateur division. I was injured last year and training for Nationals now. Way too much money to spend on my part. Maybe next year after I win Nationals. I want the National records and the World squat and deadlift records. The Arnold is 3rd on my list. Nice that they have invited me. I love the trophy they give out.

Just didn't have it today. I am finding out now at my age it takes about 5 days to recover from going close to max. I have 2 new powerlifting recruits as of today. Isaiah did 8x3@405 pretty easy. He met my star pupil Philippee and is a convert. Philippee did 8x2@610 squats, then 5x2@485 Anderson pin squats from lower than parallel, then bench 8x3@335, singles with 355, 365, 375, 380, 385, & 390.
Saturday Philippee did squats at 625, 630, & 640, all PR's. I am hard of hearing and didn't catch the 4th guys name. He was just starting back from a long layoff. I will work with him and get his technique down better.

Used a squat bar for deadlift. My hands are too small for that and it was very rough on my hands.

If I can lift raw again, no knee wraps, the National record is 363.7 pounds the same as my Texas state record and the World record is 396 pounds. I will have both come October 27th.

It never fails. I go to the gym today doing my squats and a 28 year old comes up and tells me, back in the day I squatted 600 pounds. What day I ask. Back in my college days. I am 44 years older let's see what you can squat now. Oh no man, my knees are shot. Yeah, yeah, yeah. I say you should try squatting on my old worn out knees and say excuse me, I have another set of squats.

Pretty good the way my back, hip, knees, and right calf are. 600 pound squatter but 6 years later can't even squat 135. My socks are brown from the bullshit. Have you noticed it is always a perfect round number they throw out there?

Damn, I have a severely strained Popliteal Fossa muscle behind my right knee. No squats or deadlifts for 2-4 weeks. I can barely walk, hurts worse to just stand still. One more comeback.

They now call it a Popliteus strain. 6-16 weeks to heal. I can't get comfortable. Along with shot knees and arthritis it is no fun. Damn, I was getting so close to getting back to where I was over a year ago. Maybe I can get it healed and train enough to go win Nationals October 27th. Just have to wait and see. I will not give up.
