I have an unrelated question regarding transitioning to TM from 5/3/1, since I believe I could get more out of my lifts in doing so. My 1RMs are still very low:

    B: 245
    P: 160
    S: 350
    D: 405

This put my 5RMs even lower, which means id be starting out squatting ~205 & benching ~170 on volume day. Baby weight, yes.

I am also unsure if those 5RMs should be used for the 5x5, since it is much more of a workload..

Do you think i’d be better served on a program like Madcows as a way to bridge the programs and build my lifts up prior to beginning TM?

Start your intensity day 5RMs around 85%. Put your 5x5 weights at 75%. If that seems too high then go 70% and 80% for vol/int.

Appreciate your response. Just looking for some clarification.

Do you mean start with 75%/85% of my 1RM for vol/int?

Or base those percentages off of my estimated initial 5RM in order to start low and work up?
