Substituting Bench with Overhead Press
Hello,
I am currently running the Texas Method two weeks in. Personally, I really dislike the bench press and prefer the overhead press over it; I really enjoy pressing a heavy weight over my head. From a strength standpoint, would it be okay (such that it is not detrimental to my strength gains) to substitute bench with the overhead press in volume/intensity day and bench only during recovery day?
My current program:
Volume day:
5x5 squat
5x5 press
1x5 deadlift
Recovery:
2x5 squat
3x5 bench
x3 pullup
Intensity:
1x5 squat (or 1rep max)
1x5 press (or max)
3x5 rows
