It is written in Practical Programming that sometimes, in order to drive the weights on ID, moving from 5x5 on VD to 8x3 might be warranted. As I might try out something like that in the future, I'm curious what that kind of intervention does to the lifter. I guess it depends on the individual and I guess it might work better for females, in general.

What would happen if we were to do 25 singles? I guess that's an impractical and extreme case but maybe it will help me understand the underlying thought process. I understand that the goal of reducing the rep count is to add weight to the bar but I guess what I don't understand is at what point such transition is counter productive and what can I expect from it?
