    Default Failed Workout Today. How to Follow?

    Today was not a good workout day. I've been using SS strictly since about February and have this progress (all 3x5):

    Squat: 185lb to 235lb
    Bench: 135lb to 165lb
    DL: 205lb to 285lb
    Press: 85lb to 105lb

    Highest numbers are most recent. Today I tried to progress to 240 on the squat, did one set of 5 but could only manage 2 on the second set. Then I tried the bench at 170lb but dropped the bar (failure) on the fourth rep of the first set. That was enough. I don't know the cause, perhaps insufficient rest or overnight dehydration as I got to the gym only one hour after waking up.

    My question is, what should I do to get back on track? Get back to it ASAP, or add a third rest day between workouts? Currently I'm working out every third day, but this morning did not feel rested.

    Other info: I'm 62, 205lbs with a 36-in waist. I hate being fat but that's a separate problem. I have constant arthritic pain and a weak feeling in my right knee but keep on truckin'.
