you said "used" not "use" - so when was that ?
for the exact same $99 i can get the DHS training collar:
http://www.dynamicfitnessequipment.c...ctCode=HTC0050
which is better, because it has spin lock and it is standard 2.5KG weight, and it doesn't pop open when dropped.

Here is the deal, i will be getting at least 2 pairs of collars and possibly as many as 4 or 5 pairs of different ones.
the two pairs that i will DEFINITELY GET are:
1 - muscle clamps // because they are easiest to use
2 - 2.5 KG competition collars // because i can tighten up the plates with them, and mount the plates to the outside as well. BUT I HAVE TO PICK WHICH ONES. Eleiko or DHS ? or something else maybe ?
the collars i am still debating are the LockJaws ... they seem to have a lot of issues ... but at the same time also a lot of adherents ...
i'm definitely NOT going to get regular lock jaws, because for when i don't need the locking clip i will be using muscle clamps. however i am debating whether to go with LockJaw Pro or Elite or both or neither ...
i am also debating whether to pick up some spring collars just for fun ...
and maybe a low-profile collar for shorter bars like the 1KG Vulcan collar or the 1.25LB Ivanko. they are 1-3/8" wide compared to 2" wide or more that is typical for most collars.
so i will be getting 2 pairs at the least, and 6 at the most ...

Did you take in account that when using magnetic collars over time everything wil be magnetic?
And as such will start attracting small metal parts. Like the small steel scraping you get from sliding plates on the bar. Or those that your rack might be shedding with use.
In time these metal parts will find there way in the bearings of your bar. I've been working with steel and tools for a long time and found magnetic tools to be a royal pain. Everthing that gets into contact with them will be magnetic and start pakking steel splinters on them. Verry annoying/hard to get rid of. The only way to get them of your tool is to slam it into a solid piece of steel so that the schockwave will knock them of. I wouldn't recommend doing that with your bar.
Something to think about

I'd go with Eleiko, personally. DHS makes decent WL products, but if you're going for some competition collars go Eleiko. If you want to save a bit, get the Eleiko training collars.
Robert NL is right about the flakes. If you get a DHS training bar it will flake (like in the video review).

The only exercises I do where the bar hits the floor are deads and power cleans, and I don't drop even those since I have all iron plates. So far the cheapest possible clamps are working just fine for me on these. Of course, I'm using light weights.
If a person isn't doing full cleans and snatches, at what weights will cheap clamps become insufficient? Will I ever outgrow my $10 spring clamps?
it also depends on the ribbing on your bar sleeves. aggressive ribbing makes it harder for plates to slide off ... but also makes it harder to slide them on. i'd rather have smoother sleeves and stronger collars, but some people would rather have more aggressive ribbing and skip the collars altogether.
