Testosterone dose question
I’ve finally been prescribed T and will be starting my treatment tomorrow.
We use a different unit to measure testosterone in UK, nmol/L. Under 12 nmol/L total is considered low. My tests have ranged from 4.6 to 7.3.
I have been prescribed testosterone cypionate, 0.25ml twice per week. Strength of the stuff is 200 mg/mL.
Does this sound about right to start with, or should I be talking to the doctor about changing the dose?
Thanks

Talk to your doctor to see if having normal testosterone levels is right for you. It may be that the UK wants them low.

I'm not going to get into what a "good" dose is because it can vary person to person but to answer the question, yes, 100 mg a week is a very common cookie cutter starting dose coming from a GP or urologist. TRT clinics tend to be more aggressive.

The molar weight of testosterone is about 288 g/mol. This means a concentration of 12 nmol/L is equivalent to 345 ng/dL (the units usually used in American labs). This is actually a little better than some American physicians (who will often say nothing above 300 is low).
Once you start exogenous test, your endogenous production doesn't have anything to do with the equation. Your levels are set by the dose: someone who starts with 200 ng/dL doesn't need more than someone who starts with 400 ng/dL.
Cypionate has a biological half life of 8 days, which is usually just rounded to a week. So doses are usually thought of in terms of weeks.
Your doctor has you on 100 mg a week, which isn't a particularly high dose but isn't concerningly conservative. There's no direct relationship between the particular dose and the levels produced (it varies from person to person). You simply titrate the dose up or down based on how you feel/where your levels wind up.
Your numbers are low enough that you should see some improvements relatively quickly. If you don't feel any better in two weeks, have him double the dose.

.25ml twice a week is 100mg/wk. here in the usa, normal therapuetic doses are between 80-200/wk.
its not a bad idea to start low and titrate up. i started too high (.4ml twice a week) and it had me anxious and adrenaline. i cut it in half and now after 6 months ive worked back up to .4 and my life is better now than before. i have more confidence and motivation throughout the day, i sleep better at night, and i can bang my wife better too.

The UK is nicer than Aus. You've got to be under 6 nmol/L here. Even then they'll find excuses not to.
I had to go one of the few available clinics and continue to hope they don't get shut down.
