You should have dropped it on him.
Hi all,
Had a strange incident today that I thought I might share. I was power cleaning, work weights was 120 kg for 10 singles. As I'm warming up I notice a little old man is looking at me funny from across the gym. I set up for my 1st 120 kg single, squeeze and pull...and I see him running at me. I almost dumped the clean but ended up racking it.
So I'm in a quarter squat with 120 kg on my shoulders and gramps grabs me round the waist and screams "it's ok, I've got you!" I can't drop the weight without knocking him out. If I stand up I'll have to lift him off the ground.
"Let go," I manage.
"It's oooookkkkkk!" he wails. I decide to stand up, his grip breaks and he ends up sitting on his arse in front of me. Thankfully there's just enuf room for me to step back and to return the barbell to the floor between us.
"You would've had it if you'd let me help," he says and walks away looking dejected.
Anyway...have any of you seen a power clean get misinterpreted quite so oddly? I'm the only one in my gym that does anything vaguely explosive / olympic lifting style, and I've had people looking at me with curiosity when I'm cleaning, but nothing close to this. Just felt like sharing
You should have dropped it on him.
This is why we should always film our lifts; maybe the gym has footage?
This is clearly some sort of attempted sexual assault.
BT, I don't suppose you happened to look and see if his shenanigans were being filmed, did you? This sounds suspiciously like it could have been a stunt for posting on social media....
yes i had a dipshit once compliment me on being able to CURL such heavy weights. i was fucking power cleanining.
Okay, I think it's time now for the solutions, BT.
What did the guy think you were doing, he was doing, how was he gonna help you and why you didn't get the rep when you stood up in spite of his help???
