I didn't get to lift while I was in Seattle unfortunately. Spent all day today working in my garden since I am so far behind. My lawns and fields look like they need to be hayed instead of mowed. Unbelievable. Plus I'm stupid enough to have spent from 8 am this morning to 9 pm tonight in the garden, with only time out to go lift, in the direct sun wearing only underwear and rubber barn boots. I'm tired, sun burned all over except for my calves and feet. I'm going to have to rethink my garden wardrobe since I usually get carried away and spend much more time working there than I originally plan on.

Didn't have much oomph for the bench today so again, I cut it short. About the only thing I was really pleased with was the Ab Wheel work. 7 standing reps were very very easy.
Tomorrow I get to go BBQ for 4 of my wifes classes. woooo. Said with as little enthusiasm as possible.

Tried a few light backsquats today. Did the two sets and took my belt off and unloaded the bar as quickly as possible. I could feel the power lurking waiting to be set free. Before I started slapping some plates on, I moved on quickly. I have ice on my knee right now.

The curls were hard. Really hard. Don't know why they felt so heavy. Even 100lbs. Oh well. My partner was talking about one of the days I was gone how hard they (curls) were for him and that he went 120-130-140-150-160. That really made me feel worse, until he casually mentioned they were only for singles!
I think my goal of 160x31 is going to be tough to meet. But who knows, I tend to plod along until things just 'click' and then I go hog wild. I am waiting for a hog wild day..
Too busy. Way to busy.

My wifes summer vacation started today. She restarted lifting after two years absence. I think I'll just keep her lifting log, not the Tabata stuff, here in my log just so I can keep track. Because of a big wedding of some close friends we are going to on Saturday, she just went through the motions so she could walk and act normally.
Back squat
Barx3 sets of 5
Push press
Barx3 sets of 5
One arm row
25#x2 sets of 5
She is a minimalist when it comes to lifting. She asks for a very brief session with a minimum of lifts, she prefers sets of 5 in almost everything. Because of this, in the past she has handled some fairly impressive weight. Now in her early 50's it will be interesting to see how she does. Her main drawback is that while she loves the results from lifting, she really doesn't care to lift. There is a chance she'll piss me off and I'll ban her from our weight room.

Uhmmm--I am sure that will go really well for you.
I work out with my wife, and the main problem I have with her is yawning between sets. I've never caught her doing it between reps, but it may happen someday. I keep telling her that if the weight isn't enough to get and hold her attention, I can always raise it faster. :-)
Congrats to the Perfesser! I didn't see anything in the news about you burning down the city, so you must have behaved yourself.
Bill, she'd like nothing better. Make my life a living hell of course, but would accept it without losing any sleep.
Grub, my wife has always yawns right before her sets. Always. I rarely do.
tertius, I was hoping for big smoke in my rearview mirror, but alas, it was not to be! Things went so well I didn't get mad at anyone for anything and obviously didn't piss anyone off. Kind of a disappointment!
Today was fun, I don't feel like a complete lifter when I can't squat/dead.

Everything felt nice. Front squats will be just to warm up for any deadlifting I do, so nothing heavy from now on. TBDL felt great, I decided to up the weight and lower the reps on the T-bar stuff. I have something going on in my right elbow, been bothering me for a few months now and so the curls hurt until the final set which felt great.
Uh...good luck? Somehow I think you have enough experience at this marriage thing to get through it all, and still be happy!
Heh, yeah Mac, I think everything will be fine. 34 years of pure wedded bliss will not be interrupted!

Benches felt really good this morning, bumped up 2 reps on the DB bench which was encouraging. I was surprised I was so out of sorts on it since it really hasn't been that long since I performed them. The strength seems to be coming back a bit. Very pleased with the ab wheel too.
