I'm back and even lighter in BW. Down to 238 from 270. Just going to mess around for a few weeks building my strength back up before I settle down into a cycle. Plus, I have something going on in my right knee and have some swelling inside the joint. Got a short little lift in this evening.

    Close grip (16" grip)--240x5--290x5--315x3

Tough time to lift. A death in the family will really put life into perspective.

Swelling in knee is going down somewhat. Pretty tight at the bottom though. Had a chiropractor adjust it today and it was pretty far 'out of place'.

It sure does. I haven't lost anyone in my family for the last 3 years, but in the last 5, none of my parent's generation is left. Aunt's, uncles, cousins are all gone. The kids at the Thanksgiving dinner card table once upon a time are now the ones the little 'uns look over to.

Sorry for your bereavement. Keep on taking it out on the iron. It's probably superfluous advice, but a focus on short term effort helps dispel dwelling on loss.

Thanks Jake. Got the funeral taken care of yesterday, hope to get back on track this next week. Forgot to post Fridays lift, as uninspired and cut short as it was.

    Close grip--240x12--295x5--325x3 sets of 2
    Curls--up to 140x5

Just quit lifting for the session. I had much more planned, just no enthusiasm.

Something that I did for my Father to help fire him up after a stroke that left him nearly without speech or the ability to move, was to buy a tape of Marine jody calls to fire him up and fight back to move a little better, and speak again. He dropped out of high school and survived three amphibious landings in the Pacific. Never underestimate the ability of Uncle Sam's Misguided Children to inspire. Jack up the volume loud and turn on the bass to the max. It has always worked for me when I get down. He's been gone for some years now but I can play that tape and see that tough young farm boy running along the grinder at Parris Island. It has been a great comfort and can restore the balance to go on with what needs to be done.
