Welcome! I can't wait to read your log.
My son is only a few years younger than you.
In the 4th week of the program and really enjoying it. Had to dial things back a little on the press, my increases were too big and hopefully I've got things squared away. Current 5RM for the lifts:
Squat: 143 pounds
Press: 73 pounds (dropped back to 65 pounds)
Bench press: 110 pounds
Deadlift: 180 pounds
Clean: 83 pounds
Condition 3 x per week, usually push the Butcher or a kettlebell complex. Usually keeping it under 8 minutes unless I'm pushing the sled, then I rest as needed between pushes.
Welcome! I can't wait to read your log.
My son is only a few years younger than you.
Squats: 145 x 5 x3
Bench Press. 112 x5 x 3
Ring dips. 3,3,3
Ring dips are much harder than regular dips! I feel a reset coming in the bench, hoping to get one more week of progress.
This is going to be very interesting. Are you doing high, or low bar squats?
5'8", weigh 160 pounds. I actually have some experience with ring dips but will exercise caution.
Today I'm officially 42. Yay for me.
Deadlift: worked up to 180 pounds for a set of 5. Thought I had done 180 but my training log said 175 so 180 it was.
Pullups: 9, 7, 6. Strict, unassisted. I was pretty stoked, have NEVER done 9.
5 hill sprints.
Leaving for vacation so I'll be doing a lot of mountain biking for the next week. No running though, maybe some hiking but NO RUNNING
Happy Birfday.
Hill sprints are evil but have a lot of conditioning "bang for the buck" or so I'm finding.
20 miles on the mountain bike today. Half of the ride was tough and half was a pure blast. I am finally getting comfortable with the clip less pedals going fast over rocks etc. Need to learn to hop logs now. I KNOW that riding may be counterproductive to lifting but it is fun and I am on vacation so I will do it again tomorrow.
