    I traveled to Albany with the Alzheimer's group on Tuesday, and had a good time. It was very hectic as we had to move quickly between different meetings with legislators (actually, with their aides), but I got to tell my girl's story (repeatedly), and voice my own personal concerns and opinion. I spent time on the bus ride talking to a man in a very similar situation to mine. He provides most of the care for his wife, who was diagnosed in 2012. She's about the same age as Maureen, but she's aware of what is happening to her, while Maureen never was. He's very involved with the cause, and I was able to share some of my own observations and lessons learned that he appreciated.

    As for today's workout, it went well enough, though my conditioning has suffered since the surgery. I was feelin' pretty whipped by the time I finished.

    It sure helps talking with people going through or have been in similar situations being a caregiver. My local paper just last week did a piece on a few people taking care of loved ones at home. It sure ain't easy.
    The WO seems to be going fine, glad you found the desire to get back into it. Where are you training? I am sort of happy it's getting warmer, hope it helps with the minor aches.

    Hey Jerry, yes it was nice being able to share with so many people that had a real understanding of what we went through. And I did learn more about the actual scope of the disease in these times, which is frightening! My future plans are geared toward getting back into hiking regularly, and possibly trying the Appalachian Trail next year (whether whole or in sections). My girl and I did a lot of traveling and hiking when she was healthy, and she really loved it! It would be a nice testament to the love we shared, and that I will always have for her.

    As for my training, I am still in my girl's house for now, and continue to train in the 10 x 12 shed I purchased in 2009. I will eventually be moving out to my parents, until I decide where I will go from there. When I make that first move, I will also have my shed and equipment moved. My training is currently going well, and my (tentative) goals for this year are a 375 SQ, 240 BP, 430 DL, and 170 OHP. I don't expect to go over 200 lbs. bodyweight, as I am presently 191 at 6' and 61 yo.

    Today's workout was better overall, but I had a little trouble with the low back which made me skip my back-off set of squats. I saw my chiro last Friday, but may need to get another adjustment soon.

    I normally workout in the morning, and prefer it, but had to wait till afternoon today. My low back was still a little tender, but I continue to make steady progress. Still having some concerns with the kidneys, and the doc is having me do another 24-hr urine test. They said my results from the first one showed some abnormalities...don't like the sound of that!

    I saw my chiro yesterday, and back is feeling better today, though still tender. I seem to be stuck on my OHP the last couple weeks, so will drop the weight a bit next time and try to build back up. Everything else went pretty well.
