Also, I've been meaning to ask you a conjugate question. I recently had a chance to meet the HS strength coach at the school my 8th grader will be going to next year. Interesting guy - very big into the Westside/Conjugate system. I was a little curious what you think about using Westside for rank beginners - esp HS freshmen. Would you have such a trainee jump right into the Westside method with box squats, bands, etc (which is what this coach will be doing), or would you take a different approach?
Ha, thanks. My new mini Húsafell stone is my first decent stone. I have a 125 Kevlar Med Ball that is like a fairly good sized Atlas Stone.
I also have a large Ironmind Sandbag that is currently loaded to 95 pounds. My Pitbull top loading Farmers Implements are also great.
For bars I have 2 regular power bars, a 2" axle bar, a 3" bar, and Ironmind 2" loadable dumbbell handles.
My plan is to use all of these great tools and train in more of a conjugate/tactical strongman style to keep things interesting.
I believe your son would benefit greatly starting out with a solid conjugate training program. Louie Simmons took Kenny Patterson under his
wing when Kenny was a youngster, and Kenny went on to set many world records in powerlifting by training conjugate exclusively.
Conjugate keeps things fresh, just doing the same old lifts all the time causes boredom, muscle imbalances, injury, and lack of progress.
    Stay Strong!!

Thanks, Shug. I look forward to seeing what kind of westside workouts they'll do. I'm actually hoping to learn a thing or two that I can apply as well!

    Angry I Hate Snow

    Sunday 3-6-22 / Outside Temp 29

The plan was complete rest this weekend, but 7 to 8 inches of heavy, wet, sloppy snow fell, so...

A heck of a lot of snow shoveling...

I'm a member of the I Hate Snow Club.! Besides the usual snow shoveling at home it made things at my job as a mechanic a pain. I finslly got a snow blower but I now wind up doing my neighbors house too. Glad I still can.though.

** Well gang, one of my worst nightmares has happened. I popped my left bicep at the shoulder. (Long Head, Proximal Rupture)
** I will not seek any medical care for this injury because it's not needed. If it was a distal tear, I would probably have reattachment surgery.

Sorry to hear that. Hope it's not too painfull. Last year my friend tore his bicep helping a neighbor move a couch. His arm just about turned black. He didn't get surgery either. He did go to physical therapy for a bit.
