As it turns out, 1000 pound Club wasn't much of a stretch! Bill got 1055 lbs. during the week of December 11.

I'm going to finish out my little 5-week "sub-maximal" training cycle experiment, and then see what I think and whether I'm ready to take a shot at the "Lifting to Live - Mock Meet(tm)"

Not too bad, not too taxing. I think I'm going to feel good at the end of this 5-week "sub-maximal" cycle

You've got nothing to lose by trying!

Spreading the lifts out over the 4/5 days is a huge boost, too. Even with significant PRs in each of the lifts, I didn't feel like I was completely thrashed by week's end.

    Pin press: 181x5
    DL: 345x3x2

That is the end of my sub-maximal cycle. I do feel pretty good, but I think I'd like to run it again before attempting the mock meet.

First time in four attempts at 181x5 pin press. Even did the first three touch-and-go.

    OP: 174x2x3 PR
    DL: 335x3x2

I wanted this press PR, because last fall I misloaded an attempt at 164x5x3 and could only do a double (because it was 174). Now that accidental PR is wiped off the books!

Good workout Saturday. Heavy workday on a family project on Sunday. Really felt it that night and Monday. Don't like to think of how it would have been if I hadn't been training.

Back in the gym today. Went pretty well. The current "sub-maximal" mode seems to be accomplishing something, and it hasn't been bad to be able to do the workouts and recover without feeling I'm at the limit.

Been busy. Has lessened gym frequency, but am still getting in there. The "submaximal" program has been sustainable-ish. Africa by Toto is not the right music for bench.

I agree about that song. A little too laid back. Good to see you are still getting something done so weights don't slip too far. It can be a chore sometimes to just maintain.

As mentioned above, I tried a 5-week "sub-maximal" training cycle. I have been getting to the gym (not perfect, busy spring), and have now run several cycles.

Very soon, I will be attempting the Bill Anders "Lifting to Live - Mock Meet(tm)".

1000-pound Club is the goal. Not too far off with my recent singles, which total 985 and are not limit singles: SQ: 335, DL: 405, BP: 245. Will update.
