I really have to figure out my phone's camera. Even without the flash it has a light that shines before the shot.
Would love to take these incognito shots!

I saw the other day a fellow gym member using the smith machine like a leg press.
His back was on the floor and he was pushing up the weight.
The regular leg press machine was free, and right beside it, FYI.

This has already been added to the discussion and this is considered a legit exercise...this thread goes way back....we haven't established why one would do it when alternatives exist though....seems not so smart.

I am not old folks (31)...it seems unnecessarily risky is why it seems not so smart with leg press machines or other alternative available.

I am new to strength training but not gyms. The first time I saw it I thought it was ridiculously stupid too and still don't see a good reason to do it with alternatives available.

It was considered legit by bodybuilding.com...and I no longer look for information there considering they consider this legit.

legit exercise doesn't necessarily mean "optimal" or "most efficient use of time"

When these obscure exercises come up it seems legit only means that there is a picture or story of someone considered legitimate doing them. Who knows how they used them or if they even did them more than once.

Maybe I had a poor choice of words....

    Should have said...
Some fucking idiots consider this a "legit" exercise even with better alternatives

We're going to need a video of you doing the hand motions to prove that.
