Though this copy from his book is hilariously creepy sounding:
Contreras spent the last eighteen years researching and field-testing the best methods for building better butts and shapelier bodies.
It fucking works though (I mean the marketing, though presumably lots of focused ass hypertrophy work also works). His 'strong curves' program is very popular, even has a subreddit. I think it's partly luck of the draw - the Kardashian/instagram butt-love era seems to have coincided with his rise in popularity. The xxfitness (xx for chromosomes) reddit has a whole section in their faq devoted to "I want a nice butt, how do I get it?" - basically there's a market for butt-focused programs. Honestly, it's a little interesting since that means that there is a community beyond SS junkies that basically want the t-rex look...

Well, The Mountain definitely doesn't subscribe to SS deadlifting philosophy. Wide stance, wide grip, no Valsalva, doesn't bother to set his back. 705# for an "easy" 2 reps.
He does have a funny IG page considering he posts Game of Thrones memes of himself. I was wondering if that was even really him under the armor since it would be cheaper to hire an unknown big dude, but there is a selfie of him with the zombie eyes and face make up.
Is this because they spend a lot of time picking up odd shaped and form compromising objects? Are there any renowned strongmen who use or have used the SS model? Does the SS model even fit with strongman training? I suppose they have a lot of skill work that, different from many sports, requires extreme levels of strength: throwing kegs over their head, pulling trains and what not. Does the argument arise that they best way to move a VOlkswagon is to do the 5 basic lifts, or is there the assumption that strongmen do an off season, basic strength program and focus more on skill work in comp season? Some of these guys compete in individual powerlifting comps as well. Not sure about across the board powerlifting, though since they can't dedicate their whole lives to 3 lifts.... Or can they?

This is standard practice at the commercial gym I go to, it gives me the rage.
... not sure how to get the picture to look larger

you do realize he's probably like 6'7" or something? in which case his stance and grip looks wide relative to the bar, and he must reach lower to grab it, too.
