    Monday, Feb 13 - Intensity

    Press 45x5x2, 95x5, 135x3, 155x3, 185x2x2, 195x1, 215x1, 230: 1,f,1,1 135x5

The warm ups were a bit off but sometimes they are like that. Then, I just wasn't getting the hip snap for the heavy singles. The fail was about an inch over my head when the grav lock engaged. That rep had a bad setup, not really wrong for technique or anything but I didn't step back quite as far as usual so the visuals were a tad off and it was, well just enough different to be annoying. I think two factors may have contributed to my perceived lack of fire tonight, 1- I spent most of yesterday on my knees installing a Pergo floor in the old TV room or 2- I did Volume day squats on Saturday instead of the normal Recovery sets.

    Wed Feb 15 Volume (split)

    Bench 45x5x2, 135x5, 185x3, 225x3x2, 245x2, 265x1, 275x5x3, b/o 225x10

It was a fine night to bench press. There was a very good spotter on hand and the work sets were like butter.

Saturday, Feb 18 - Volume (split) and Recovery mash up

Squat - finish the midweek Volume squats that I didn't get to, again:

    45x5x2, 95x5, 155x5, 205x5, 245x3, 275x1, 295x3x3

    Press - 45x5, 95x5, 115x3, 135x1, 155x5x2

The squats went well today. I did a 10 lb bump but held the sets to 3x3. Last Monday's Intensity work was a bit off after doing Volume squats on the previous Saturday. I want to be recovered for this Monday's work. We'll see how it plays out in two days. If it's OK I might switch Volume squats to Saturdays and plug in light squats elsewhere.

    Bob,
I noticed your attachment (volume day progress), and am curious how you and others (I may have seen one of Sully's) are charting your progress. I would like to do the same, but haven't been able to pull this off on my own.

Could you point in a direction?

By the way, really nice and consistent progress on your lifts over the last year.

    Hey, Bill.

The chart was just a simple column of numbers done in Microsoft Excel 2007. The data points may look a bit different if you are used to earlier versions bit it's just a spread sheet graph. If you have Excel I can PM a template.

    Monday Feb 20, Intensity

    Bench 45x5x2, 95x5, 155x5, 205x3, 235x5, 265x2x2, 285x2, 295x1, 315x1, 325xf, 295x3, 245x8

I was planning on some heavy-for-me singles tonight. My usual spotter was late so I was about ready to switch out to triples that I can handle on my own when he showed up. The timing was good, I finished warm ups with the last double and went 295, 315, 325(F). I wasn't thinking PR tonight but the 315 was so slick that I added 10. I had a good start and then my spotter got a bit anxious when I slowed down a bit and he grabbed it. I know a current era PR is waiting in the wings. I finished with a solid triple and back off set. I'm a happy bencher tonight.
