    Hey Rip,

Just curious what your thoughts are on using chains for lifting. I've used them every so often just as a fun way to mix things up, but not sure if they are really aiding the strength process anymore than just putting a plate on the bar. I've noticed that West Side uses them along with the bands as well, but just wondered how you feel about the effectiveness of using them.

Rip, is it safe to say that chains should be one of the last things added to an athlete's program after all other sensible techniques have been exhausted? In other words, they should be reserved for advanced, competitive lifters, who are EXTREMELY far along the path of adaptation.

Yet for some reason, I see personal trainers using them with their clients who are benching 135. And going on about how some of the biggest benchers use this "amazing new tool" to get stronger. This pisses me off more than it should.
