I've read articles showing measurements of about 2.5xBW being experienced during running, but 4-6 times body weight from simply walking downhill? I agree with your point but my first thought is "exaggeration." Perhaps this has been measured?

William Morris, I was just talking about sparing the girls feelings. Its easy to forget she is ten. I have run my mouth a little before about her father pushing in her into competition with dangerous technique. Some of the things I said would probably upset the girl somewhat. But I have never criticised her, just the people around her.

As far as the exaggeration claim, feel free to take that up with Dr. Levangie and Dr. Norkin. Their biomechanics book is fairly clear about the amount of force transmitted through the lower extremities. The biomechanists who are on our faculty here seem to agree with L&N's assessment.
