Rip, I have a distal bicep tear in my left arm, which I supinate while deadlifting on the heavy sets. Tear occurred approx 3 yrs ago. Right bicep is also distal torn (college football yrs ago). I pulled a heavy double today and felt a twinge. My question is; should I concentrate on grip strength to compensate for the tear? Also, do you think the cardinal sin of bent arms while deadlifting caused the twinge?

You'd better learn how to hook grip your deadlifts, so that you take the bicep tension off of your elbows. This will solve your problem. Or just double overhand with straps, and quit worrying about it. Given the injury situation, I don't think deadlift purity is that crucial.

Thx Rip. I've been following your cuff repair rehab. Is chins ok with the bicep tear? I'm up to 7 sets of 3.

Good. Get the volume up at low-rep sets.
