(fortunately I was able to go down slowly and put it on the safety bars without losing my balance.....)
Yeah. I read this and thought to myself, geez, in that case I'm glad my power rack/workout area is on my patio. If the light goes out there (during the day) it probably won't matter what I've got on my shoulder!

I live with a constant pain, but we've been together 38 years and I love her.

I started weight training at 41, now 52.

Training history judo 3 years, karate 8 years, sedentary 7, karate 4, sedentary 7, swimming 2, powerlifting 11.

I had knee problems starting in my teens that derailed pretty much all exercise I tried. For most of my adult life I had lower back ache and tension headaches that I thought were inevitable for a computer bound, mostly sedentary office worker. When I swam for a couple of years around 40yo I developed shoulder problems, basically the reason I stopped and started lifting instead.

The knee, back and neck problems (mostly) disappeared when I started lifting. The shoulder problem took longer, but improved, then got worse a few years later when I really pushed my bench to the limit, culminating in surgery in 2013.

The knee problem comes and goes, mostly in my left and sometimes limits my squat work. I get the odd tweak and I'm currently nursing a pull in my left spinal erector. My shoulders are improving and I'm benching fairly well again. I can lift over 90% of my all time best in all the lifts whenever I want. I got my last PR of 242.5kg (534#) in the deadlift about 8 months ago.

So on balance, I have less "old guy aches and pains" at 52 than I did as a sedentary 32 year old. And I'm more than twice as strong. Maybe three times as strong. And I look better in a swimsuit.

I'm 51, 163 lbs, and you have inspired me (even more than I was already). Those are big numbers.
