1/2 butter, 1/2 pork lard is a much better option. Olive oil is not great for cooking purposes.

Olive oil is excellent for cooking purposes, eckspecially with butter. But lard works well if you have it laying around the kitchen.

OH YEAH!!! Well my husband comes from Alabama and he calls it Country Fried Steak. 😛

I grew up in South Florida where I generally preferred Cuban and Mexican food...to the annoyance of my Portuguese and Italian grandmothers. So, I certainly don’t claim to be an expert on this subject. I guess my grandma fried her chicken with a Parmesan blend. So it wouldn’t apply in my experience. 😝

This thread is making me hungry.
Why the hell isn't there even at least a Waffle House or Cracker Barrel in midtown Manhattan?

Yep, "Country Fried Steak" in the part of Georgia where I grew up, too.

Rip, have you been to Mary’s in Strawn for the chicken fried steak? My wife says people “come from all over the country to try it”

When I lived (as a carpetbagger Yankee) near Dallas, I was told that the definition of Yankee is anyone born north of I-30. Sorry. What does Andy Baker call breaded fried steak?
