I swear that what follows is true and that I am not making it up.

Climatists at the German state media broadcaster Südwestrundfunk (SWR) have used the mandatory license fees they collect from all German households to produce an astounding virtual reality video game called GreenGuardiansVR. In this game, players shoot lasers at flying climate denialists to defeat disinformation and save the planet (h/t RatSays). This is literally true, this thing really exists. It will be released to the public sometime in the autumn; the Steam page is here. In the meantime, they’ve set up a whole stand to debut this lunacy at Gamescom, the Cologne video game trade fair.
I'm sure that wont radicalize a single soul and inspire them to take a pop shot at a skeptic. Just like calling Trump a nazi for 8 years didnt....oh wait.

That sounds pretty toasty. It's not quite that hot up north today, but 95 degrees and humid as fuck here.

The air conditioning went out on the '98 Jeep today, so I guess I'll be working on fixing that tonight!

Otherwise, a typical August day here, nothing new for this time of year.

In my estimation we've been cooler than usual. We had a couple of really miserable 99 degree days right at my birthday, about the 16th to 18th but other than that it's been weirdly tolerable. I'm sure it's global warming though, obviously.

Why there have been so few hurricanes this year as peak season approaches

Why there have been so few hurricanes this year as peak season approaches

The time of year that typically sees the most tropical systems forming in the Atlantic Basin is almost here.

The past three weeks in the Atlantic Basin have been notably quiet with no named storm formations since Ernesto on Aug. 12.

The last time the Atlantic had no named storm formations between Aug. 13 and Sept. 3 was in 1968, Philip Klotzbach, senior research scientist at Colorado State University, told ABC News. There has not been a named storm anywhere in the Atlantic Basin for more than two weeks.

The peak of the Atlantic hurricane season is September 10, according to the National Hurricane Center. Historically speaking, about two-thirds of all storm activity occurs between Aug. 20 and Oct. 10.

Earlier this year, the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration predicted a very active Atlantic hurricane season for 2024.

One of the explanations for the lack of storm systems forming in the Atlantic Basin in recent weeks is due to the Saharan Dust moving across the Atlantic Ocean, scientists say.....
They cant predict the weather 6 months into the future but totally can decades into the future. All you need to do is trust the science and pay more for everything.
And maybe freeze in the winter. And be hot in the summer. And not eat meat.

Here in the Phoenix area we are at 103 consecutive days over 100 degrees, and counting. Urban Heat Island effect is a real thing.

It's just natures way of reminding us that we live in the desert. Soon it will be heavenly and we will be inundated with snow birds.

Yeah, but didn't y'all have a cool and rainy start to the year? I have an author friend out there and I seem to recall an unusual amount of rain being mentioned.

Daytime temps near 90 last week and next week. Fortunately, cooling down to 60 at night.

The state media says this is the result of global warming or climate change or whatever they're calling it now.

Back in the 70s, this was referred to as "Indian Summer." Happens every year near fall!
