I want to be able to think like you. Who taught you the most in terms of being logical; was it people you knew, or from certain books, etc?

Thanks for the compliments, but I am not smart enough to be regarded in this way, and I have no business telling you anything about it.

    That's exactly what Socrates said.

If you're not posting about how stupid Rip is on BB.com, you're probably on the way there.

One of the many things I learned while in school, and always a source of frustration when looking at some of my classmates who were soon to be doctors:

    You can't teach common sense.

Men think logically. As a male, you start to think more and more logically as you get older. Rip is probably older then you, which is why his thinking seems this way to you. I'm 26, and I know that I think much more logically then I did when I was 18, and I'm sure that this way of thinking will only continue to increase as I get older.

In my experience, Mark's no-nonsense, call-it-like-I-see-it attitude is quite common among Texans. That should give you a clue.

    Mark:

Don't be so modest. You do have an unemotional and logical way of looking at things. In your books you have used quotes from people like Heinlein and others which makes me think you come from the Ayn Rand school of objectivism.

I am interested in learning the basis for yout thought as well.

I almost said Mr. Spock, actually. And I am not really an Objectivist, since I find Rand rather boring. I wonder if Vulcans are Objectivists?
