    Do compound machine exercises cause tendonitis even though multiple joints are used?
    Compound-joint exercises distribute the stress over multiple structures and don't cause connective tissue injuries, while machine isolation-type exercises stress a limited number of joints and produce un-moderated stress focused on single joints.

    I presume that compound machines that move in a fixed i.e. plate-loaded isolateral row would cause joint issues.
    However, the seated cable row I think would probably be okay albeit it uses less overall muscle as the stabilization is not present.

    I don't know what a plate-loaded isolateral row is. Seated cable rows won't produce tendonitis, or anything else for that matter.

    Could it be true that fixed plane compound machine exercises are troublesome for the rotator cuff muscles?

    The link states that these machines are based off human movement.
