Do what the dentist tells you to do. Exactly.
Had my tenth tooth pulled out and a screw-type implant installed (no crown yet). Dentist said no physical training for 4 days. To lift heavy I waited a week. Then on my "heavy" bench press set of 5 at ~80 kilos I felt the implant move (I didn't clench, but it was a limit set). A day later my gum at the implant swole up. Went to the dentist, he said the implant has movement and has to be pulled because it won't heal properly. I know I fucked up. Scheduled for install again. My question is: how long should I lay off lifting with a tooth implant installed? Male, age 20, weight 220, height 6' 2".

John, oral surgeon here....nothing you did caused the implant to fail. It would have failed whether you lifted or not. Success of implants is very high, over 90%, but it's not 100%. If it failed that early either it was not stable at the time of placement (most likely) or it got infected (unlikely if you were on antibiotics). The only restriction I give my patients after an implant is nothing strenuous for a day or so just because it may cause a little bleeding.
Ten pulled teeth at 20?
I think you have bigger problems, fren.
