Due to night shift work, I typically sleep 4 hours at a stretch. Still get 8 hrs a day except in 4 hr increments. I know this is not ideal but life happens..insights regarding how effective/noneffective this is for strength training recovery?

You only find out by training. Basically you treat it like you would an advancing lifter. When you can't make progress you extend out how often you can train at high intensities.

I was in the same boat for about 5 years. Can attest that spreading the workouts / progression on increasing weight is the way to go. Currently still running a 4 day split to keep the workouts shorter and maximise my awake time for other errands.
