Not sure if it was addressed before but I'd like to know how you guys experience deadlifting with your WL shoes? I understand why the heel lift can facilitate with reaching depth easier for squatting, but for the deadlift, i like to lift barefoot. It makes me feel "planted" more than shoes. How does the heel lift affect deadlift?

I just ordered mine and have been squatting barefoot too. I was supposed to get my shoes in May but with the back issues I never bothered. Now they are on their way!

    Thanks

I prefer to deadlift with them. Feel like I can use my quads better to break the bar off the floor and build some speed at the beginning of the lift.

Used to deadlift in flat shoes. Switched over to WL shoes to try it out and haven't gone back.

I feel much more "stuck" to the ground.

Granted, no record world record deadlifts are being set in WL shoes, but who here plans on setting world records?

I'll try with them and without then.

So how do they deadlift then if not in WL shoes? Flats?

Top deadlifters typically pull in deadlift slippers.

It took a few goes to get used to it, felt like I was falling forwards. But my Do wins are a lot more solid than my dumbbell cratered globo gym floor, and haven't looked back. Used to pull barefoot but it was getting hard to find somewhere to stand where I wasn't on some kind of slope, need to find a better gym O_o

They suit some people fine but not others. I've done both and there isn't a massive difference between the two, although I ultimately prefer flat soles for deadlifting.

I've tried for weeks to get to grips with deadlifting in my powerstar but I just can't do it. My hips are way too high and when the weights get heavy(ier) I can feel greater strain on my lower back. I deadlift conventional so I guess if I tried sumo this would not be a problem due to the fact of the sumo style being a modification for someone with long femurs. I don't want to change my deadlift style so I just deadlift in my socks, no problem for me :-)

Are the people in this thread who are pulling barefoot doing their power cleans in lifting shoes?

    Just curious.

I do all of my clean grip and snatch grip pulls in lifting shoes for obvious reasons. But, all of my heavy conventional deads, including my last PR, were done barefoot. I've never even tried to pull a heavy 1RM conventional dead in lifting shoes, but I don't really do conventional deads anymore so...
