    Default Racking Weight from Squat Issue

    I have to do a slight calf raise/jump to get the weight out of the rack doing a LBBS. Then when I'm done, I'm like 2 inches too low to rack the weight. I'm still in light weights so its not as tough, but anyone have any advice on this? Right now I'm able to roll the weight back up to a HBBS and calf raise it in, but once I get higher, no way I'll be able to do this with my arms.

    Your rack should be set so that the bar is in the middle of your sternum. This will let you do a small crouch under the bar and let you set your arch and stuff before picking the bar up.

    If you can't get your rack any lower you might want to look into using some pieces of wood or plates to make the floor higher.

    Yea the problem is, its a corporate gym and there is no wood I can use. I could use some mats for like yoga or whatever, but that almost seems worse then squating with air pocket shoes and I'd need like 2-3 mats on top of each other cause they're so thin at this place. Almost seems more dangerous.

    Yeah... It's nowhere near ideal but maybe you can lay some plates or mats up near the rack where you stand to rack/unrack it, and then very carefully step back up onto the mat when you want to re-rack.

    I'd love to hear other people's ideas though. Besides bringing your own little riser I'm not too sure what the safest way to do it would be.

    DO NOT USE MATS

    I tried stacking mats to get the height of a rack pull correct one time. Even with that limited range of motion and the weight in my hands (as opposed to on my shoulders) I almost tore my back up.

    Why can you not adjust the pin height in the rack?

    Its not like a nice power rack. Its all fixed position hooks every like 4 inches or whatever. Its the only thing the place has next to a smith machine that I could squat on.

    Then rack it on the next lower hook. Am I missing something here?

    I'd have to like backup, lower myself down 3 inches and try to get it in. seems like I'm asking for an injury doing that...haven't tried it so I dont know, but seems awkward. I looked around at the gym today and theres nothing I can throw down on the floor.
