    1) You are not setting your back before the pull. Need to rotate your chest up to set the back, without dropping your hips. 2) You are pushing the bar forward with your shins before the pull, which results in you pulling the bar out in front of you off the ground.     AtlantaDave,

    Thanks for your help. I will try and work on those things. I did feel like there was probably too much stress on my lower back than there should be.

    Break from the hips first on the descent and don't really close your knees until the bar is past them.

    You don't have to put the bar down so gingerly, but don't drop it either.
