1. No, at 182 you should be stronger as a multiple of bodyweight.
2. No, that is for a stronger than most man of average height.
3. It depends on your goals and how tall you are. Stronger= better and usually leads to bigger.
Hi Rip,
In your T-Nation article you say that a 200lb man should have a well developed strength base of at least 1.75 x squat, 2 x deadlift and .75 bodyweight press.
As a 182lb man, are these ratios still applicable? Also, i also read somewhere that you told an athlete that a healthy adult male weighs 200lbs - is that a basic benchmark bodyweight for a average man of average height?
Should I shoot for those ratios at my current bodyweight or really try to push myself up to the 200lb mark? Does bigger = stronger = better?

oy.
in terms of ratios there is no difference between 185 and 200 lbs.
Yeah rip says everyone should be over 200 lbs "to be a man" ... but he seems to like his men on the fat side.
Go with his 20% bf guideline instead. Try to stay under 20%... REALLY try not to go above 25 unless you have a really good reason.
