Power Clean Form Check
Coach Rippetoe,
Can you please give me some feedback on my Power Cleans? These were my 1st, 3rd, and 5th work sets from a recent workout.

First, these cleans all show a pretty bad slowdown at the jumping position on the thigh. This is corrected by revising your thinking about the clean: the bar comes off the floor slow, and the higher it gets the faster it moves. Instead of stopping to make sure the thigh is touched, you just brush against it on the way up, and it continues to accelerate through this position too.
Second, you're racking the bar slow. You have to slam the bar into the shoulders, like you're striking the bar a blow with your delts.
These points are both covered in the 3rd edition.

Thanks for the feedback. I definitely see the bar speed problem, and will work on fixing it this week. I don't think I understand what you mean about the slow racking, but I haven't bought the third edition yet, so maybe now is the time.
