i've recently picked up the hook grip for my deadlift. however i have been using a mixed grip along with the hook grip (meaning my grip is alternated, and i have a hook grip on both hands). is this incorrect? i've tried to search some info on this and i've gotten different answers, all from less than reliable sources.

If you can handle the pain then hook double overhand. Much better for you.
the only discussion i found on it was located on this page - http://startingstrength.com/resource...t=22258&page=6
seems that no one said it was incorrect, and you posted a picture of someone lifting a lot of weight with it - so i suppose ill just keep using it. if you know of any threads i can read up where it was discussed a little further than just a brief mention that would be good too.
If you're using a hook grip, why would you use a mixed grip too?
Definatly Overhand hook grip, sometimes youl bleed but its all a part of the fun.
well, i was using just a regular alternate grip until even that became a problem (my grip blows). I didn't want to start using straps - so i read that hook grip could help out, but for some reason it didn't cross my mind to use hook grip double overhand. so i've been doing it alternate hooked, but i wasn't sure if that was a problem or not. aside from wondering if there is actually anything wrong with it - i was curious if people could lift more with an alternate hook or a double overhand hook.
well Iv pull over 900 off of pins double overhand hook gripped. and my deadlift is around 600 atm. So this tells me one would never need to worry about what is stronger because any method would work. But its safer to lift with double over hand, so if you can bare the pain do this. Thats just my opinion though.
Double underhand hook grip.
