I am curious, at what stage did most of you guys and gals first test your 1RM? I understand that a 1RM doesn't really mean anything if you're still a novice, or if it's outside of a competition environment.

Did you find that your results were fairly close to the online 1RM calculators?

If you move to the Texas Method after your novice progression you will be testing your 3RM and 1RM. You are right though, it is kind of pointless at the novice stage since you are making new PR's every workout.

JMO but 1rm calculators are a waste of time. Arthur Drechsler said it best "What you can do for a double, you can do for a single!" Lots of factors go into a 1rm and the calculators cant take those things into account. What you can do for ten reps has absolutely nothing to do with what you can do for one.
