I have been doing starting strength for approx one month and love it. I have the SS app on my phone. It gives the ability to track squats, deadllifts, bench press and standing press. My question: should I be doing both squats AND deadllifts on each exercise day or am I supposed to be switching to a different exercise, not listed on the app?

You need to read the book and learn what the program actually is. The app, and this board, are not meant as replacements for those who don't take the time to do that.

I have read the book and am well aware the purpose of the program. It's not rocket science. My question is really a simple one. At what point do I start introducing other exercises besides just the four listed on the app. And how long should I continue to do both squats AND deadllifts on the same day. Answering questions such as that one is EXACTLY the purpose of this board.

Thanks for telling me what the purpose of this board is. 7 years here, along with creating the very sub-forum you're asking your lazy question on, definitely do not qualify me to tell you what the purpose of this board is.

What you ignorantly state as the purpose of this board is covered in
    1) The programming section of SSBBT
    2) The entire book PPPST3
    3) The "Getting Started" link on our homepage, under the programming tab
    4) Hundreds of threads on this forum over the past 10 years.

Your job is to do some basic research of the materials we have made available that articulate our basic positions on these things. Reasonable questions can be asked to clarify things, to apply the principles to a specific situation, to see if a particular situation is indeed a 1-in-1000 special snowflake situation that merits a deviation.

Instead, you ask a stupid question based on a lazy lack of research and get butthurt when called out on it. You will probably not do well on this program.

    I am absolutely speechless. Wow.

Dude, This forum is free. You are paying nothing whatsoever to get the information which is really, readily, available with basic, rudimentary, search skills.

    Nice Mic Drop, Wolf.

OPs question aside (which is easily answered in a million different places...included the dreaded wiki), this is apparently what happens to kids who grow up without being taught manners, appreciation, and gratitude. You don't come into someone else's house, demand something that doesn't make sense, and then get publicly pissed off when they politely call you out on it....

There's a lesson for everyone on this board who is a parent. Don't let your kids grow up to be jerks.

written by a father of 3 young boys...(who usually have pretty good manners...and learn quickly when they don't).

Looks like you've hit a nerve here, no worries, it happens sometimes so let me help you out.

Once you're not recovering from them you will need to add in leg extensions on squat day and alternate in the good girl/bad girl machine with deads every other week. That way you're still getting a pump and recovering enough to pull a heavy set of 5 deads.

    Hope this helps

From one successful (I hope) forum user to another:

Rule #1. Do the research, then ask the question.
Rule #2. Being a pompous prick will get you nowhere on here, or in life for that matter... just a tip.
