Hey, Mark -- embarking on Starting Strength and have some experience in weightlifting under my belt, one question: I cannot do bench presses (no bench and left shoulder impingement) is the floor press a suitable alternative or just don't do the bench. My cleans and standard presses are fine -- in fact, the overhead press makes my shoulders feel great with absolutely no pain. If you have a second to respond I'd be very thankful. All the best, Dave W.

If a shoulder injury is the reason you can't bench, how do you plan to get your floor press in position without hurting your shoulder? Is the impingement due to the ROM, or the humeral angle? Can you not afford a bench? How do you squat?
