Due to my garage roof been low I'm unable to press off my rack so I have to clean to my shoulders out side everything I press. Is this going to over train anything and is there Any alternative exercises I could swap the press for like seated press?

No, it makes it easier since you store some elastic energy during the clean for the start of the press. And it's fine, a lot of people do it this way, some say (Rippetoes included) it helps prime the body for overhead pressing, or something like that.

You can go either way and be ok. If you want to clean the weight, that is going to give you some more clean practice. You can do seated overhead press too. I have done the seated press a few times and found I lift a little less weight, so take that into consideration too.

Cleaning it to press it, is how the old, strong guys did it. I'd definately keep doing it.

I was thinking of changing the press for clean and press would this be an ok substitution? What would the possible drawbacks and benefits be?

You would be more awesome and old-school than the rest of us chumps, who take the bar out of the rack. I've considered it several times myself, actually.

I.e. you'd be more like Bill:

Well I think il give it a try the only draw back I can see is less involvement from my shoulders given the fact you have a little momentum from the clean part of the lift but maybe being able to lift more weight will componsate for this.
