The old thread was closed and I was curious to see how you've faired over the past few weeks with the recent rainfall and the drought conditions you've been experiencing.

I'm full. Which makes me better than the local lakes.

What amount of rainfall will it take to bring the local lakes back to a point where the drought emergency would be cancelled, 6", 15"?

Seems like the path of these recent storms hits the major drainage basin quite nicely. The lower, local lakes might be another story though. Interesting that they sit so close to the edge of the Red River Basin. Kinda sucks though if storms move out of the area too quickly.

It will take a catastrophic flood, or possible three of them. Floods that will be on the national news.

We've gone through a nasty drought in Kansas where our town creek was dry for three years and filled up overnight with 5 inches in early June. Probably ended up getting between 15 and 20 inches in June and already a few more in July with more rain in the forecast but its still illegal to run outside water.

We don't have a water problem, we have an energy problem. The amount of water on the planet is roughly constant. Solve the energy problem (hint: nuclear) and you can desalinate the ocean and pump the water anywhere.
