I remember reading (in the Wake Up Call thread) that WFAC was putting together a weightlifting team (through recruiting) and Jim Moser was doing the programming. Do you still have lifters? If so, how are they progressing?
I'm just curious because two weeks ago my coach switched me from the s-curve pull to a vertical pull off the floor. I'm trusting my coach, and you guys next weekend in Toronto, to help me achieve my goals. It's obviously worked for him, his dad and his brother who have all competed at the national level in Canada using the vertical pull.
One more question, are any of your lifters competing at the Oklahoma State WL meet?
How has he progressed in terms of weightlifting?
I just have Fox here now, and he's focused on other stuff. We dropped the idea of forming the team when it became apparent that even with a stipend there was no interest in being associated with us, because we don't know what we're talking about. After all, neither Jim or myself has ever coached an advanced Olympic weightlifter.
And we don't have any lifters in the OK state meet either.
A meet held in Oklahoma at 105 F or maybe worse is not exactly a draw.
That's disappointing and hopefully the idea doesn't fade away completely. Seems like a missed opportunity for those who don't want to be associated with you or Jim. If weightlifting in your area is anything like it is here it needs all the help and exposure it can get.
