The way I understand it, deadlifts are an essential exercise so I've been doing them but it seems like I can never get a straight answer on how to do it. This is what I've been doing. Can you guys tell me what I'm doing wrong?

No you're doing them quite thoroughly wrong. There is a book I'd recommend called Starting Strength: Basic Barbell Training that will explain how to do it correctly.

Also note the one arm incline chest fly going on in the back ground. That isolates the inner chest you know. Can I sub those for bench presses?

If you don't delete it for those reasons you should delete it because of the guy in the background doing one-armed incline dumbbell presses.

put your feet 12 to 15 inches apart slightly turn out toes, bend down, grab bar, put back into extension and keep tight, then to get bar off floor use quads for the first part of the movement but second half of the movement extend your hips. going down its opposite first move at hips until bar is about at knees and then begin to bend at knees. always use lats to push bar against lower leg. do not look at ceiling. i STRONGLY recommend that you by Rip's book or you will not learn proper technique. its helping me a lot.

No, we should not delete this. This guy came to Mark, and consequently the rest of the forum, for help. We should try to help this guy, show him the error of his way, and get him to be what he can with proper technique. If we try and he says no thanks, then fuck'em, but while he's asking for help, it Mark's/our job to try and help him.

Man, even I wore gloves at one time.
